Generate SM.DB (synonyms.data in Lexical Tools):

II. Processes

The generation processes base on the soruces and are done by the following order:

• Generating Synonym candidates and Synonyms from UMLS MetaThesaurus (${PREV_YEAR_AA})
  • Retrieve synonym candidate list
  • Generate synonyms from Meta
    => Used before 2021- for no new synonym candidate list were generateed
    => We expected the candidate list to be completed in 2021 release.
    => This step generates synonym candidate list and final synonyms from Meta
• Generate synonyms from nominalization in Lexicon ($YEAR}
• Generate original synonyms from Lexical Tools (2016)
• Combine synonyms

• ReTag synonyms from Previous release
• Generate synonyms from STMT (UMLS-Core): TBD

• Please note that the latest version of Lexicon and UMLS-Metathesaurus are in different year:
  • the latest version of LRXXX from Lexicon is ${YEAR}
  • the latest version of MRXXX from UMLS-Metathesaurus is ${PREV_YEAR_AA}
  • the latest version of synonym from lexical Tools is 2016
